Born in 1985 and still going strong, Poison is one of those fragrances that earned its reputation by being completely unapologetic. This is the original — the dark, spicy, fruity scent that practically defined the bold perfumes of the era and turned heads everywhere it went. It opens rich and a little boozy, with ripe plum and wild berries layered over warm spice and coriander. From there it settles into a heady floral heart, with tuberose at the centre, softened by honey and a touch of cinnamon. The dry-down is where it really sinks in — warm amber, vanilla, sandalwood and musk that wrap around the skin and stay there. It's sweet, but it's the deep, grown-up kind of sweet, not a fruity-floral.
This is a proper evening and cold-weather scent.
